Travel guide
Tashkent airport taxi: Yandex Go, official taxis or a transfer?
You land at Tashkent International (TAS), clear immigration and walk out into a crowd of drivers. Here is what each option really costs and when each one makes sense.
Short answer: with a local SIM card and some som, a Yandex Go ride to the centre costs about UZS 40,000–70,000 (roughly $3–6) and takes 20–40 minutes. If you land at night, have no data yet, travel with children or heavy bags, or are going straight on to Samarkand, a pre-booked transfer with a name sign costs $25 per car. Avoid drivers who approach you inside the hall: they often quote several times the app price.
The options at a glance
| Option | Typical cost to the centre | You need | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yandex Go (app) | ≈ UZS 40,000–70,000 | Mobile data, the app, usually cash in som | Daytime arrivals, light luggage |
| Licensed airport taxi | Higher than the app; ask the fare first | Cash or card, depending on the service | No SIM yet |
| Pre-booked private transfer | $25 sedan, $50 minivan, per car | A booking before you fly | Night arrivals, families, groups, going on to Samarkand |
| Driver offering a ride in the hall | Often several times the app price | Strong negotiating | Best avoided |
Yandex Go
Yandex Go is the app most people in Tashkent use. Since December 2025 its cars may drive up to the first lane in front of the terminal and wait for you for up to 20 minutes (Spot.uz), so you no longer have to walk to the car park. You need mobile data to order: SIM cards are sold in the arrivals area (bring your passport). Many drivers prefer cash in som, so withdraw some at an ATM first.
Licensed airport taxis
Several licensed services are allowed to pick up at the arrivals exit, including Taxi Airport Tashkent, Sixt, Taxi Millenium, Let's Trip and Uzviptranservice (Spot.uz). Their fares are higher than app rides. Ask the price for your address before you get in.
A pre-booked transfer
Your driver waits at arrivals with your name on a sign, helps with luggage and takes you to any address in Tashkent. You know the price before you fly, it is per car rather than per person, and you don't need a SIM, an app or cash on landing. See Tashkent airport transfer.
What it costs per person
| People | Vehicle | Per vehicle | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sedan | $25 | $25 |
| 2 | Sedan | $25 | $13 |
| 3 | Sedan | $25 | $9 |
| 4 | SUV | $35 | $9 |
| 5 | Minivan | $50 | $10 |

Going straight on to Samarkand or Bukhara
Many flights land in the morning, and travellers continue the same day. A car from the airport to Samarkand costs the same as from the city, $100 for a sedan, 4–4.5 hours, and saves the trip to the station. See Tashkent to Samarkand and Tashkent to Bukhara.
Tips on arrival
- International flights use Terminal 2. Domestic flights use a separate terminal: allow time and take a car between them. More in our Tashkent airport arrival guide.
- Agree any street fare for the whole car, in som, before the doors close.
- Late-night arrival with no data? Book the transfer before you fly and send us your flight number.
