About this experience

Shakhrisabz is where Amir Timur was born, and he intended it to be a showpiece. The remains of his Ak-Saray summer palace, with its enormous ruined gateway, still dominate the town.

A local guide walks you through Ak-Saray and the Dorut Tilovat and Dorus Saodat complexes, explaining Timur's story and the town's place on the Silk Road. It combines easily with a day trip from Samarkand.
