The Samarkand to Aydarkul yurt camp journey

The yurt camps in the Kyzylkum desert near Aydarkul Lake are a popular overnight stop between Samarkand and Bukhara. The drive from Samarkand takes about 4 to 5 hours with a stop in Nurata.

Nurata is known for the Chashma spring and the ruins of a fortress attributed to Alexander the Great. Aydarkul is a large lake in the desert, good for an evening swim in the warm months.

Tell us which camp you have booked. The next morning we can continue to Bukhara, or back to Samarkand.
