With ten days you can go beyond the classic cities: a day among the 2,000-year-old mud-brick fortresses of Khorezm, and an overnight trip from Nukus to Muynak, where ships lie in the sand of the former Aral Sea shore. These trips need a private car — there is no public transport out there.
