About this experience
Margilan has been a centre of silk production since Silk Road times, and it's still one of the few places where you can watch the whole process by hand: unwinding cocoons, dyeing the threads with the ikat resist technique and weaving on wooden looms.
On this workshop visit you'll see each stage and learn how the bold, blurred ikat patterns called atlas and adras are made — and try a step yourself.
