About this experience
The mahalla is the traditional neighbourhood community in Uzbekistan: a network of families, courtyards, a local mosque, a tea house and elders who help organise everything from weddings to repairs. Walking through one with a local is the best way to understand everyday Uzbek life.
You'll wander the narrow lanes, see how courtyard houses are arranged around a shared space, and stop for tea. Your host explains the customs and traditions that still shape life in the neighbourhood today.
