Fergana
Uzbekistan's green heartland: silk weaving in Margilan, ceramics in Rishtan and a strong craft tradition in every town.
What is Fergana?
Fergana sits in the fertile Fergana Valley, reached from Tashkent either by a short domestic flight or by road over the Kamchik Pass — a scenic but mountainous drive that can take longer in winter weather, which is why most visitors prefer flying in and arranging ground transfers locally.
From Fergana we also run private transfers to the neighbouring valley cities of Andijan, Namangan and Kokand, all within roughly an hour to ninety minutes' drive, so a Fergana Valley loop can be covered comfortably with one driver over a day or two.
Why visit
- Fergana city centre — Leafy Russian-era boulevards and parks.
- Local silk & ceramics workshops — Craft traditions found across the valley.
- Kuva ruins — Ancient settlement remains near Fergana.
